Pen Care

Advice on Usage

(1) Always replace the cap on the barrel after use. This precaution avoids rapid evaporation of the ink, and untimely clogging which can cause a total or partial interruption of the ink flow.

(2) Playing with the click mechanism or replacing the cap too roughly can lead to spray of minute droplets of ink into the interior of the cap, which through accumulation, might become a leak. We advise you to replace the cap, with the pen in a vertical position, the nib pointing upwards.

(3) To avoid the risk of accidental leaks, place your pen in your pocket or handbag in the vertical position with the nib pointing upwards.

(4) During air travel or in the case of exposure to heat, the risk of leaks is greater because of the variation of atmospheric pressure. The effect of this can lead to dilation of the air inside the cartridge, and in extreme cases, expulsion of the ink, causing a leak. A half-empty cartridge is more likely to leak than a full one.

(5) Irregular handwriting, lines too thick or thin, an ink flow too weak or too strong, can all from using the wrong size nib for your handwriting.

Keeping your Pen in Good Working Order

(1) If you do not intent to use your pen for some time, remove the cartridge to avoid clogging up the nib section.

(2) Washing the nib section twice a year will ensure a smooth and constant ink flow.

(3) In the event of an accidental leak, thoroughly wash the pen:

  • remove the cartridge and wash each part under cold running water
  • dry with absorbent paper or a dry cloth;
  • clean the interior of the cap with absorbent paper;
  • N.B. does not use hot water or solvents, which can damage parts of the pen.
Maintaining the Appearance of your Pen

(1) Whatever the finish, avoid dropping your pen, hard impacts and contact with sharp objects (for example, keys).

(2) Do not use any cleaning products with a solvent base (particularly on lacquer finishes).

(3) Although the clip is a movable part, it is nevertheless susceptible to damage. We therefore recommend that it should not be handled excessively.
